چکیده

Beside that the fish species and their sub-populations are highly important as a keystone in coastal marine ecosystem, there very few studies on presence, distribution temporal variations within around lagoon ecosystems Albania. This paper provides an updated review life cycle, fishery, exploitation state management of main subject commercial fishing Karavasta lagoon, southeastern Adriatic coast Due to fact lagoons represent continuum between continental aquatic they play crucial role cycles. Further circumstances rapid utilizations environmental changes, anomalies salinity temperatures, accelerated anthropogenic influences rate vulnerability is increased. Following requirements Water Framework Directive, transitional water, estuaries need for urgent monitoring approaches. The include: European eel (Anguilla anguilla), Family Mugilidae (Mugil cephalus, Liza ramada, salienes Chelon labrosus), Seabream (Sparus aurata), Seabass (Dincentrarchus labrax), etc. Fish productivity oscillating from maximum value 61.95 kg/ha recorded period 1975–80 lower 31 year 2020. Our study highlights importance fishery long-term monitoring, contributes understand driving factors productivity, migration patterns ecology vital ecosystems.

First report of Lomentaria hakodatensis (Lomentariaceae, Rhodophyta) from the lagoon of Venice (Adriatic Sea, Mediterranean)

Lomentaria hakodatensis Yendo, known from China, Japan, Korea, and the Pacific coasts of North America, was recorded for the first time in the lagoon of Venice on the Adriatic Sea in 2000. Specimens in the reproductive stage had tetrasporophytes, male, and female gametophytes. Morphological, anatomical, and reproductive features of the thalli are described and the occurrence of the species in t...

Historical overfishing and the recent collapse of coastal ecosystems.

Ecological extinction caused by overfishing precedes all other pervasive human disturbance to coastal ecosystems, including pollution, degradation of water quality, and anthropogenic climate change. Historical abundances of large consumer species were fantastically large in comparison with recent observations. Paleoecological, archaeological, and historical data show that time lags of decades t...

Natural Recovery and Planned Intervention in Coastal Wetlands: Venice Lagoon (Northern Adriatic Sea, Italy) as a Case Study

The goals of conservation and sustainable use of environmental ecosystems have increased the need for detailed knowledge of ecological evolution and responses to both anthropogenic pressures and recovery measures. The present study shows the effects of natural processes and planned intervention in terms of reducing nutrient inputs in a highly exploited coastal lagoon, describing its evolution o...

Benthic ecosystem functioning in hydrocarbon and heavy-metal contaminated sediments of an Adriatic lagoon

Sediment samples were collected in 4 sites along a salinity gradient (between 0.2 and 27.3) of the Aussa River (Marano Lagoon, northern Adriatic Sea, Italy) and a decreasing gradient of industrial contamination downstream (from Stn A1 to Stn A4) to assess how a riverine-lagoonal system responds to chemical contamination by applying an integrative measure of its benthic ecological properties. Be...
